Non-Thermal Plasma (or cold plasma) technology is the heart of Jonix products and represents a new frontier in the field of devices dedicated to fighting microbial environmental contamination.

They are easy to use and require nothing other than electricity (it is low consuming, among other things): the rest they do all on their own, providing autonomously the release of bio-active species capable of reducing contamination.

In order to ensure maximum effectiveness, the devices must be correctly positioned in environments of adequate size. A Cube in a corner, inside a shelf closed on three sides, cannot bring the results it would give if it were positioned properly, the same applies if you use only one Cube for an environment of more than 50 square meters (538 ft2) with a strong presence of people or substances in the air (like a hair salon). For a home or office space, the Cube, on the other hand, can sanitise up to 80 square meters (861 ft2) without any problems.

We must remind you that, however, the use of Jonix devices does not replace normal cleaning operations, but completes the removal of contaminations. In other words, our Jonix ionisers perfect the sanitisation work with a targeted and specific action, not possible in other ways.

How do Jonix devices work

The heart of the Jonix devices are the generators, two cylindrical elements, which generate a plasma at room temperature (Non-Thermal Plasma) capable of ionising the air. The reactive particles of the ionised air exhibit an effective oxidising activity, capable of attacking and neutralising living microorganisms (viruses, bacteria, moulds) and polluting chemical molecules (VOC, particulates).

In the dynamic image below you can clearly see how the ionised air flows move: they are like constant waves that extend to the whole environment, optimally if the device is not enclosed on the sides.

Jonix technology is both effective and safe at the same time because the particles that are formed react instantly, thus performing their decontaminating action immediately and without leaving residual chemical products. Jonix sanitisers are therefore usable continuously even in the presence of people and have no side effects.

The constant sanitising action is one of the strengths of Jonix devices because decontamination takes place for as long as it remains on, without disinfectants. The devices are also programmable: operating and intensity cycles can be set depending on the type of the operations and use of the premises in which they are installed. Now let’s have a look at the different cycles.

How much time should you keep Jonix ionizers on to sanitise the air

The time of usage depends on the reason for which the ionising device is used: professional or domestic? What kind of activity takes place in the space to be treated? This part is important, as we have already explained in the article dedicated on how to choose your device.

We can say that the device should be turned on after cleaning the room in which it is placed. If you prefer to keep the window ajar or open it for a few minutes, you can safely do it even while Jonix is active.

Air conditioning and heating do not intervene on the sanitising effect and the various systems do not conflict, so you can safely use your device even with the air conditioner or heating turned on.

The time of use of the Cube depends on the treatment objectives and the type of the room in which it is placed: the device has timing programs that allow it to make a versatile and personalised usage. The three operating levels of the Cube correspond to three different timings of the on-off cycles of the plasma generators. In the user manual you will find further indications to adapt the use based on the square footage of the space.

The operating level can be chosen based on the degree of concentration of pollutants or odours present: for example if you are cooking, smoking or if there is a greater presence of people than usual. In addition, you can choose to keep the fan on or off: ventilation improves the movement of air in the rooms by optimising the positive effects of the device. For example, if you want to sanitise or remove strong odours quickly, in a small space up to 40 m2, (430 ft2) use level 3 for 30-40 minutes. To maintain a constant sanitisation in the same space, level 2 will suffice.

In general, remember that the higher the concentration of substances in the air, (for the number of people present or passing through, for the use of airborne products such as lacquers or fixatives) the greater the sanitising power required.

Where to place Jonix sanitisers to get the maximum benefit

Obviously, they should be placed in an open area, so that their effect is as consistent as possible. In particular, this applies to the Cube which is the stan-alone device: it can be moved and positioned as needed. Much work has been done on the design side precisely because it is beautiful to look at and can be in full view.

It is fundamental that the ionised air can reach all points of a room in order to achieve the best performance in its sanitising function also towards exposed surfaces.

So, when choosing where to place your Jonix keep in mind some indications:

  1. The space to be treated must be as open as possible, without bulkheads, separators, tall bookcases;
  2. The ionised air spreads in a linear way, as you can see from the dynamic simulations below: therefore, it cannot effectively reach the other room, even if the door is open;
  3. The ideal position is far from doors and windows, in a point where the ionised air can reach the entire room as much as possible (as you can see in the simulations below)
  4. The device must be free on all sides so it is better not to put it in corners, inside shelves or cabinets;
  5. Do not put objects on top of the device (decorations, plants etc.).
