Being a benefit corporation: a commitment over time
Last year, Jonix became a benefit corporation, that is, in a nutshell, a company that starting from its statute, is committed to creating and sharing well-being, working on every aspect of its actions: sustainability of products and production processes, relationships with suppliers and customers, quality of internal work, future development strategies. In a benefit corporation like ours, therefore, profit is never separated from the value that is created and distributed, because we are aware that real growth is for everyone and it does not harm people or the planet.
Being a benefit corporation is a commitment we must report our own work through the sustainability report, which tells all stakeholders what has been done and related results, illustrating the economic, environmental and social impacts on the area and the community, with data that testify the starting point and progress of each action.
Jonix and its global goals for 2030
The 2021 Sustainability Report presents the activities undertaken by Jonix in the field of environmental and social sustainability, following the GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) Standard and explaining how Jonix’s activities contribute to the achievement of the 2030 Agenda.
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is the plan approved by the 193 UN members to achieve prosperity that respects the planet and its inhabitants. The 2030 Agenda is made up of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), further subdivided into 169 goals, to be achieved by 2030, aiming at “leaving no one behind”. The threat of climate change is now more real than ever and the SDGs are crucial if we are to avoid compromising the future of our children and the planet.
The Jonix Sustainability Report
Through the Sustainability Report we at Jonix tell how we come into play to help achieve the sustainable development goals and to do so we have divided the report into macro-areas, identifying for each a set of key performance indicators (KPI), introduced at the beginning of each chapter which monitors the various steps and progresses. Work ethics, choice of suppliers, impact on the environment, quality of life, safety and well-being within the company, strategic financial and product choices, search for new sustainable applications: all of this is explained and illustrated by graphs and data. Behind every figure, there is a face, a story, a precise choice to build our future and the future of others.
